Vibrant impressionist paintings
Caroline Hallat is an exciting up and coming artist with years of experience with oil painting. Originally from South Africa, she grew up under apartheid and is fascinated by Canadian subjects with African color influences.
Expressive brushstroke and palette knife create canvases with movement and texture.
A strong sense of light is also evident in the paintings, whether it be in the atmospheric, almost moody quality or the feeling that one could move through the paintings, as one would in a landscape.
"I want to evoke a strong sense of space and distance."
The oil paintings, presented, start at 10''x10'' in size and in a range of larger formats ( 24''x 30'' , 28''x 36'', "30 ''x30'', 30" x 40", and 40" x 50" ).
Her fresh blend of impressionism and hyper realism create bold skies and affect a mood rarely experienced from art. Caroline has travelled the world and each experience finds its way on to her canvasses. She is equally passionate about photography and manages to capture moods and transient moments in challenging circumstances from the rush of India to the quiet of her home in B.C.
Working from her Art studio in Vancouver she generates a type of art she calls “Escapes” – Landscapes, Seascapes, Skyscapes and Desertscapes. She is a mother of two daughters and is happily married. She is mentored by her friend, internationally acclaimed artist James Picard.
After pursuing Graphic Design and Fine Arts at Westminster University in England she moved to Vancouver to continue evolving her art and talents.
